Head of Finance / Finance Director

The Company:

We are recruiting for an expanding SME business headquartered in Derbyshire with a people centric approach and a collaborative team that is passionate about their products and services. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a profitable organisation operating in a niche market on an international basis. They design and develop their own products and work with a dedicated supplier base to ensure quality products are delivered on time. They operate in the B-B and B-C markets with multiple sales channels, a complex supply chain and an expanding e commerce platform.

The Opportunity:

This is a business-critical Number 1 Finance Leadership role reporting to the Managing Director giving the right candidate the opportunity to progress and grow in tandem with the business. This is a very fast paced business and will require a highly motivated and career focussed individual who is able to succeed in their core role whilst managing multiple business critical projects in support of the Senior Management Team and board.  This role will suit a Senior Financial Controller or Head of Finance looking for a Number 1 role or an existing Finance Director looking for broader operational and strategic Involvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for a full function Finance team covering banking, payroll, AP, AR, accounts preparation, financial process and business partnering
• Managing and developing the Finance team to enhance their capability to support the business
• Monitor business performance KPIS to track the delivery of financial targets whilst highlighting and driving profit improvements through continuous improvements
• Manage, own and deliver the business planning and forecasting cycle
• Support the board with the provision of effective analysis and data
• Production of the monthly management reporting deck with concise variance analysis
• Cash flow forecasting and management of banking relationships

Skills and Experience Required:

• This role requires an individual with a proactive and flexible outlook and someone who is interested in a broad-based and operational remit. You must be a Qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA accountant preferably with a background in businesses with a high volume of transactions and stock movements
• Hands on and flexible with excellent organization and multi-tasking experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced SME business with the skills required to meet deadlines and manage a high level and variety of tasks
• Strong people management team leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Highly developed stakeholder management skills with the ability and confidence to operate and influence Board members
• Excellent Enterprise systems experience with well-developed Excel and data analytical skills
