• Group Financial Accountant

    Location: Derbyshire Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 Position: Permanent

    Astute Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a revered global manufacturing company based in North Derbyshire who are looking for a Group Financial Accountant to join their busy team.

     

    Responsibilities;

     

    • Annual Reporting: Prepare the first draft of the year end statutory consolidation for review by the GFC. To include; review and consolidation of the annual reporting packs by subsidiary businesses, working with the GFC to calculate all year-end adjustments and preparing the first draft of the consolidated IFRS accounts, including tax note disclosures
    • External Audit: Act as the first point of contact for the external auditors before, during and after their field work. To include, agreeing the timing of the audit, ensuring timely provision of information, explanation of consolidation adjustments, coordinating the audit work and drafting the statutory accounts for all UK legal entities
    • Corporation Tax: Prepare the statutory accounts corporation tax disclosures for all UK entities and work with the Group’s tax advisors on the preparation of the corporation tax computations. To include a calculation of all tax adjustments needed to the statutory accounts and working with the relevant business units to ensure these entries are reflected in their books, answering queries on the draft tax computations and ensuring final computations are submitted on time
    • Patent Box and R&D Claims: Undertake the annual Patent Box and Research and Development Tax claims, working with the Group’s tax advisors to undertake the relevant calculations such that they can be submitted in line with the tax computations.
    • Monthly Reporting: Manage the preparation of the Research and Development entities monthly reporting into the BPC consolidation system, including preparation of the monthly commentary report, presenting results to the monthly Research and Development Management Meeting and undertake the monthly review of Balance Sheet reconciliations ensuring compliance with Internal Audit controls.
    • Team Management: Take Line Manager responsibility for the Senior Analyst, Accounting, ensure that they are challenged, motivated and complete all their assigned tasks to a high standard. In-particular work with them to ensure the accuracy of the Research and Development reporting.
    • Budget: Undertake the first draft of the Research and Development Budget presentation, providing support to the Research and Development Team.
    • Business Partnering: Act as the business partner for the Research and Development Director, providing support on all financial matters to ensure effective business decisions are made. It is envisaged that as the business grows and evolves, this position will also provide Business Partnering / FP&A support to the wider UK business.
    • Health & Safety: Ensure that all Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to at all times, as well as ensuring the management of the Health & Safety at Work Act. Active promotion and support for Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives, including identifying hazards and near misses, participation in audits and behavioural safety initiatives and developing and setting the standards to achieve. Providing management and leadership of H&S for your area of responsibility, whilst also contributing to the wider Company H&S culture, to enable your team/s to take proactive actions to support our world class safety standards.

     

    About you:

     

    • You will ideally be ACA/ACCA qualified with 3 years PQE
    • Have a working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
    • Strong Excel knowledge
    • Previous Experience of Business Partnering and a desire to take on FP&A Activity
