• Assistant Accountant

    Location: Derbyshire Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 Position: Permanent

    Astute Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to work for a unique, vibrant company in Derby City Centre. This is the perfect role for an Assistant Accountant who thrives in a smaller company and enjoys a varied role.

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Ensure all bookkeeping duties are performed, such as checking & logging supplier invoices and reconciling payments
    • Producing a set of monthly accounts to allow yourself and the Directors to monitor the financial performance of the company
    • Liaise with the accountants to ensure compliance with all formal accounting and taxation requirements
    • Receive, understand, and process all supplier invoices on Xero accounting system
    • Ensure staff expenses are approved and posted to the ledger correctly
    • Produce monthly payroll and NEST pensions, posting monthly journal entries
    • Create supplier, payroll, and VAT payments on online banking system for Director approval
    • Update weekly cash flow forecast
    • Carry out bank reconciliations to ensure all entries are verified and recorded correctly
    • Manage company balance sheet, keeping records and making postings for fixed assets, depreciation, and any finance leases
    • Post accrual or prepayment journals to create accurate monthly financial statements
    • Ensure accurate stock records by monitoring and overseeing store stocktake programme
    • Liaise with external accountants for advice and to ensure compliance with all formal accounting and taxation requirements including VAT returns and statutory accounts
    • Become part of the company’s commercial decision-making process
    • Liaise with suppliers to ensure a smooth supply chain is maintained
    • Support and implement improvements on financial efficiency through effective systems and processes

    This is an office-based role, with the option of hybrid if required. As an Assistant Accountant you will benefit from a salary of £25,000 – £30,000, 28 days holidays inclusive of bank holidays, flexible hours, 37.5 hours weekly, company pension, a great office environment and the opportunity to attend events.
