• Assistant Accountant

    Location: Staffordshire Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 Position: Permanent

    An exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant has arisen to join a forward thinking in Lichfield. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller you will support the finance department in various accountant tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, reporting, and assisting in month-end and year-end processes.

     

    The successful Assistant Accountant will be responsible to:

     

    • Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets
    • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner
    • Efficiently generate and manage purchase orders (POs) to facilitate procurement processes
    • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate creation and tracking of POs
    • Assist in processing employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and accurate reimbursement
    • Validate and record expenses, maintaining accurate records
    • Perform regular reconciliation of direct debit transactions, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly
    • Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure proper documentation
    • Support credit control efforts by monitoring outstanding invoices and communicating with clients to facilitate timely payments
    • Record financial transactions, including journal entries and general ledger postings
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
    • Participate in the preparation of VAT returns and other tax-related documentation
    • Collaborate with senior accountants to ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations
    • Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning
    • Assist with the maintenance of accurate and organised financial records
    • Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the finance department
    • Undertake ad hoc financial tasks and projects as directed by senior team members

     

    This role is office based, with the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, this can be flexible for the right person. The successful candidate will receive a salary of £27,000 – £35,000 alongside 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays and private healthcare package. Parking is onsite, and there are local shops for you to enjoy your lunch break!
