Overview:
A great opportunity to join a high growth business operating in a specialist, high value manufacturing sector. This is a newly created Number 1 finance role reporting to the MD and part of the Senior Management team. We require a Qualified Accountant with a background in manufacturing. The successful candidate will be required to run all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Finance function managing a small team. This will cover everything from banking, payroll, AP, AR, accounts preparation and business partnering. This role requires an individual with a proactive and flexible outlook and someone who is prepared to roll their sleeves up and get involved in every part of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting into the Managing Director the main responsibilities will include:
- Managing, motivating and developing the Finance team, ensuring that they are focused on delivering the correct tasks and KPIs within agreed timescales
- Proactively monitor the business performance to ensure trends & issues are clearly highlighted and communicated early, working effectively with other departments to drive improvements
- Own the business planning and forecasting cycle, ensuring that the right KPIS are in place to track progress and driving profit improvements through cost reduction and control
- A key member of the SMT driving performance, analysis, modelling, advice and direction to drive strategic planning and thinking
- Ensure the monthly management pack is prepared in a timely manner with variance analysis covering margin and cashflow
- Deliver the annual cash flow plan and deal with all cash related matters
- Drive process improvement within the department, with increased automation
- Ensure key accounting tasks (payroll, tax, vat etc.) are delivered effectively
- Developing and maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions and reconciliations
Person Specification:
- A Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 3 years’ experience at a senior finance level in a manufacturing environment
- High level of experience of working with stock and high volumes of transactions
- Excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
- People management skills with experience of managing and developing
- Strong interpersonal skills able to create good relationships to get buy in and drive improvement across the business
- Well-rounded commercial and business awareness skills
- Excellent systems and process improvement skills
